What has changed in the
street works (Qualifications of Supervisors and Operatives)
(England) Regulations 2009 in respect of units 002 & 010?
From 6 April 2010 Unit
002 (Signing, Lighting and Guarding) & Unit 010 (Monitoring Signing,
Lighting & Guarding) become full and recognisable qualifications
with the Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR). Qualification
holders from
this date can voluntarily apply to have these qualifications
registered with SWQR.
However, from 6 April
2011 it is mandatory to register both of the full
qualifications for 002 & 010 with the Street works Qualification
Register (SWQR)
Is it mandatory for
candidates to register 002 & 010 with SQWR between 6 April 2010
& 6 April 2011?
No. It is voluntary for
qualification holders to register 002 & 010 with SWQR during this period.
Must candidates who have
achieved units 002 & 010 before 6 April 2010 register their 002
& 010 units with SWQR?
Yes. Please consult the SWQR
website for further details at www.swqr.org.uk
Is there a cut-off date by
when all 002 & 010 units must be registered?
Yes. In line with the
regulations, any person that holds a unit 002/010 certificate will
have until 6 October 2011 (six months after 6 April 2011
date) to have their unit registered with the SWQR. Those that
fail to do so will have to be assessed in the original unit
before they can have it registered with SWQR and issued with a card.
Reassessment will be
required every 5 years to re-register existing or future qualifications
